Invitation for Boris Johnson to Perform at Glastonbury 2010

Icon Written by Super Mario Bros on 19/06/2010 – 1:33 pm

Dearest Boris

We would love it if you could take a day out of your busy schedule to perform ‘The Boris Johnson Song’ live at Glastonbury festival. If you are able to make it you would be performing in the Igloo Dome alongside us and a range of other artists and musicians. In case you do not know the words by now (we are pretty sure you do) you may find it handy using the video below. You can of course also download this song for free from our ‘Download Free Boris Johnson Song‘ page. So what do you say…. Shall we bring a little bit of London down to Glastonbury festival 2010???

The full line up for the Igloo Dome of Friday can be found here

Kind regards

The Super Mario Bros

ParkLife Festival & ParkLife AfterParty (AfterLife)

Icon Written by Super Mario Bros on 19/06/2010 – 12:12 pm

Last weekend was tip-top. We love performing up in Manchester but this time it was a little bit more special as the sold out ParkLife and Parklife after-party (AfterLife) awaited us.

After queuing for ages in the artist queue alongside a very nice chap called James Ford (from Simian Mobile Disco) we eventually got in through the green gates just in time for our set. We immediately climbed up and performed in the Tree house stage for the silent disco. This was a strange mixing experience but a lot of fun. It was slightly annoying that we were on at the same time as Mr Kissy Sell Out as he sucked a lot of people out of our arena and brought them over the main stage! However those below us sang along to the house classics that we decided to pump out.

Once our set was over we watched Booka Shade live (amazing) and the wishy washy Indie band the Friendly Fires. We then took the short trip across town to Sound Control to play alongside Mowgli & our good friends Jeuce and Oli Hackett. We love playing at Sound Control. The sound is amazing and the crowd always up for a good time. We performed to a packed club full of familiar faces many of whom had just graduated. The only sad point is that many of the graduates will of course leave the Manchester nest and we will not see up in Sound Control again (weep weep).

Social Media Experiment presents Phat Rave at Glastonbury

Icon Written by Super Mario Bros on 17/06/2010 – 8:03 pm

We are back at Glastonbury again this year and cannot wait. This year we are going to be performing on Friday for Phat Rave in the Igloo dome as part of the Social Media Experiment. There are a lot of interesting sets and performances going on all day with a range of brands. We are on at 10pm just after Jeuce and before the Urban Nerds on Friday and then performing a secret set at some point on Sunday. To read about other headline comedians, musicians and brands performing on Friday (not on flyer below) click here. The image below is of the beautiful Igloo dome making it’s first outing at Glastonbury this year. The dome is a beast (21 metre diameter) and holds 800 people.

Social Media Experiment & Phat Rave at Igloo

Our set will include live tweets (twitter messages) and we will be sending out links to peoples mobile phones via bluetooth, WOW. Phat Rave is a new brand (ran by us & the guys at Igloo). It is a brand that integrates emerging technology and HD visuals in the Igloo dome and showcases the most exciting acts in the electro, house and dubstep scene across UK and EU festivals.

The 5th June is a date to put into your diary’s. We will be playing on the Electronic Sessions boat party alongside Jon O’ Bir on the river Thames. Furthermore it’s our good friend Stephen Murphy’s birthday so don’t forget to give him the birthday beats when you meet and greet him on board.

The tickets for the boat party have just arrived (please see below) and are on sale to friends and foes NOW. The Electronic Session boat party’s often sell out quickly and with trance legend Jon O Bir headlining the boat expect the tickets to go fast.

The boat will be departing at 5.45pm on Saturday the 5th of June and floating down the Thames past Big Ben to the sounds of pumping house, electro and trance music. The boat will then come back to the Thames shore at 11.45pm. There is also the option to go over to Ministry of Sound for the official Electronic Sessions (boat) afterparty where the promotion will join force with Connected.

Tickets for the boat are £20 and Ministry tickets are £15. However we can sell you tickets for BOTH the Thames boat party & Ministry of Sound for £30. We only have 20 such tickets and will have to sell them on a first come first served bases, sorry!

The Boris Johnson Poster (& Album cover)

Icon Written by Super Mario Bros on 11/05/2010 – 9:00 pm

The Boris Johnson Song Poster / Free MP3 download cover is fresh off the print. It was created by the upcoming UK artist Lewis Rowley.

The Creative Concept

We are going to replicate President Borak Obama’s poster election campaign for London’s fuhrer, Mayor Boris Johnson . In doing spreading ‘the Boris Johnson Song’ far and wide both on and offline. We are going to print 300 of these posters and stick them up at various locations across London (and Glastonbury festival). If you would like one let us know and we will hold one back for you.

The poster started with a sketch

(Feel free to print off this image and colour in Boris in any shade of blue you like, he wont mind)

Back in the studio

Icon Written by Super Mario Bros on 11/04/2010 – 10:33 am

We are going to be pumping out a new tune this Spring collaborating with an amazing artist (TBA very soon). Her style and flair should add an extra dimension to what we produced last Monday and Tuesday.

The photo below is of James just before he blurted obesities into the microphone. Don’t fear he will not be singing on this or any other song that we release. The audio from a series of incoherent ramblings and raps was eventually cut up and a part of it used in the beat.

studio

We would like to thank Keith for letting us use his studio and both Keith and Chris for their time and BBQ skills (a’hem).
We look forward to working with you guys again when we return to the studio in the coming weeks.

I highly recommend both the studio and support that these guys offer. They also run a number of Ableton video tutorials & studio training courses from the website Quantize courses.
